dmsmatters: In collaboration with Tessar Sebastian Lo and COOPER COLE GALLERY, darkmatters’ fourth project: don’t say, dansé will be released on March 30th. The figure will be exclusively available at Tessar’s solo exhibition: past, present, past-present,. Tessar’s latest offering confronts the theme of overcoming fears and adversity. He incorporates totems, gestural movements, and abstract forms in this exploration of hardships and relief. Along with a collection of new paintings, the show will feature Tessar’s first foray into making and incorporating sculptural editions in his body of work. Keeping with traditional art forms and differing from past polymer plastic projects; darkmatters locally hand casted don’t say, dansé figures in gypsum cement to closely replicate the medium of the original sculpture. The 25 individually numbered figures come complete with two-colour silk-screen packaging and certificate by printmaker Leah Ataide. darkmatters is a Toronto-based art collective originally founded in 2009. Their mission is to collaborate alongside artists, creating artwork in alternative mediums without losing the artists’ influence and authenticity. Tessar Sebastian Lo was born in Jakarta, Indonesia and has been living in Toronto, Canada since the age of four. A graduate of the Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, Lo has exhibited extensively across the globe in cities such as Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Miami, Barcelona, Amsterdam, and Tokyo. Tessar Sebastian Lo currently lives and works in Toronto, Canada.
